The pressure we’re working under is taking a toll. We might think we’re coping because we’re still performing well at work, but the truth is we’re borrowing that performance from other areas of our lives. Our energy, health, and relationships are suffering, and we don’t even realise it until the cracks start to show.
To fix this, we need to recognise what’s happening and take practical steps to rebalance our lives. Next, we have to look at where we’re borrowing our energy from. Then, we can start to put better boundaries in place, say no to unnecessary work, and make time for what truly matters outside of work.
If we don’t make these necessary changes, life becomes empty. We get stuck in a cycle where work eats up all our time and energy. Relationships break down, our health deteriorates, and eventually, even our performance at work suffers. We might think we’re holding it all together, but we’re heading towards burnout.
Look at your schedule today and ask yourself if it reflects what’s most important to you. Can you make one small change this week to prioritise something outside of work, whether it’s spending time with family, resting, or simply doing something that brings you joy?
